Dr. Jones Appoints Shawn Hoyt Interim High School Science Program Administrator

Greenwich Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Toni Jones today announced that Mr. Shawn Hoyt has been named interim high school science program administrator. Mr. Hoyt replaces Mr. John DeLuca, who recently departed GPS to join Westport Public Schools.

Mr. Hoyt will be responsible for the design, development, and evaluation of the science program at Greenwich High School, ensuring alignment with Connecticut and Next-Generation Science Standards. In addition, he will work with, supervise, and evaluate high school science teachers and collaborate with District and school leadership.

“We are very excited to add Shawn Hoyt to our administrative team,” Greenwich High School Principal Ralph Mayo said. “He is a very bright and capable science educator, who brings a great deal of knowledge and expertise to the department.”

Mr. Hoyt has been with GPS since 2016, serving as a science teacher at Greenwich High School, instructing students in biology and chemistry. In addition, he has also served as an academic coach and learning facilitator, working with teachers to create personalized learning lessons. Mr. Hoyt started his career as an educator in 2014 as a science teacher at Tolland High School, instructing students in biology & anatomy and physiology.

“I am honored to be joining the administrative team at Greenwich High School as the interim science program administrator,” Mr. Hoyt said. ”The teachers in the science department are first class and I am excited to collaborate with them to ensure the success of all of the students at GHS.”

Mr. Hoyt holds a bachelor’s in Sports Biology from Springfield College and master’s in Human Nutrition from the University of Bridgeport.
